2022 Zulu Nationals

2022 Zulu Nationals

Another amazing event was had by all that attended. I’m pretty sure the residents of Mount Edgecombe are in shock after having 328 aged golfers having a party of a lifetime.

Well done Eugene Barnard for your efforts in arranging this and Bertus de Klerk in assisting with accommodation!

To Janus Horn and his committee who arranged the Zulu Nationals 2022, what a great job and we enjoyed every minute. Hard act to follow!

Team Northerns did us proud and ended 3rd overall which is a fantastic result and 3 places up from last years 6th.  Well done to Team Kwazulu-Natal who finished in 1st place and Team Western Province in 2nd place. Not much in it and we were pipped by the slightest margins. Going into day 5 any one of the top 6 could have taken the Bert Hunt trophy home.

Team SA also won the international competitions with resounding victories.

Our mascot found some mild abuse again and needed some surgery. It must have been here that he met the the love of his life.

What goes on Tour stays on Tour!!

Derek Ackermann was the overall winner for Northerns and did a sterling job in the A division. Well done Derek on your efforts.

The team had a great time and the weather gods were kind to us all. Not all of us had the pleasure of assistance from the golfing gods but alas it is what it is!

We all made it back home safely and look forward to the next Nationals in March next year in Bloemfontein – The Cheetah Nationals 2023.
